Now Learning

So...what songs are you learning on your instrument of choice at the moment?

on guitar..

I'm working on Quintessence - Mastodon, Highway Star - Deep Purple, and bits and pieces to a few Dream Theater songs. Oh, and the MacGyver theme song.

I tried to play hickory dickory dock the other day.

I feel like I have a good grasp on Death Magnetic. Now if only I could get to a functioning drum kit....

ok I'm not really learning it anymore, I do have to get the solo down someday, but that's how it is with every solo ever. I'll get to it someday...

haha, same here. I hate learning solos, it takes so much time. I've also only really learned a few songs well enough all the way through that I could play along with the recording. I have no attention span which is probably why I'll remain at the same level for a while to come.

No attention span? Shut up... You still play a bajillion times better than me. I can only play powerchords in a couple of different ways, it's all I can do!! At least you're advancing slowly, I'm at the same level ALL the time, arggh

I'm a bit better than that kid.

well I know I don't outright suck at playing. but I just get frustrated I can't play the music I listen to and want to write. like Petrucci solos or other super shredzorz stuff. I know I've been playing less than 3 years so I can't expect to be amazingly awesome in that amount of time, but still. I think if I had the patience I could learn a difficult solo.

I'm still trying to re-tab/accurately tab Type O Negative's IYDKMIGTHKYp(Gimme That) since the only dude in the whole internet to have ever done so did a bad job on it.

But I'm also just trying to memorize the prologue of SoTN.
